Visionox Updates microLED Videowall

At last year’s Display Week, Visionox showed a 88-inch 4K microLED videowall prototype.  For 2026, they showed a 135-inch microLED videowall display with 4K resolution. The specifications seem quite different, however.

The 88-inch demo featured tiles about 2’x3” with a 0.5 mm pitch, 640×360 resolution with max/peak brightness of 600/2000 nits. The 135” demo is also 4K so the pixel pitch has been relaxed to 0.78mm with a module size of 5.9 x 6.6 inches with the typical luminance still at 600 nits. Both are chip-on-glass demos with an LTPS backplane.

Using COG with an LTPS drive circuit means better picture performance and lower power compared to COB LED displays. COG also offers a very flat surface whereas PCB can warp under temperature.

Like others, Visionox is using edge wiring route signal lines to the back of the panel for power and driving. The seam is reported to be around 20 microns and stability is helped by using a low Coefficient of Thermal Expansion glass.

Last year, Visionox explained that they pattern six bonding pads per pixel and attach RGB microLEDs to three of them. If a microLED is defective, they can simply bind another LED of that color as a repair strategy.  Thios makes the backplane wiring more complex and may account for the increase in pixel pitch (or maybe to offer a bigger screen in the market).

A new fab is being built to support microLED production so the product could come to the market this year.
