At CES 2026, the Taiwanese company E-LEAD Electronic showcased several innovative automotive display and visibility solutions, focusing on head-up displays (HUDs) and a novel drone-based safety system.

Automotive HUD Innovations

E-LEAD presented a variety of augmented reality (AR) HUD systems designed to improve driver safety and interaction:

• TFT-Based Eye-Tracked HUD: This high-brightness display (10,000–12,000 lumens) uses eye-tracking technology to ensure the image remains in the driver’s optimal field of view. It now includes interactive menu items for ADAS information and navigation.
• Virtual Intelligent Assistant HUD: Utilizing an inverted architecture with a top-mounted TFT and concave mirror, this system projects a holographic “virtual assistant” that reacts to voice commands with visual animations.
• Panoramic HUD: A wide, three-panel (12.3-inch each) demonstrator created using cold forming to achieve a curved, seamless shape across the dashboard.

Drone Integration for Trucks

A standout new product was a tethered drone system specifically for the trucking industry:

• The Problem: Large tractor-trailers often lack the 360-degree camera views common in passenger cars, creating significant blind spots.
• The Solution: A small drone (weighing under 250 grams) is mounted to the cab on a 30-meter tether.
• Capabilities: Drivers can launch the drone to check cargo conditions, navigate tight backups, or scout traffic jams further down the road. The drone can take off and land autonomously from a rooftop platform.

Corporate Strategy

E-LEAD recently underwent a significant expansion through its NT$1.16 billion (US$36.3 million) acquisition of Tong Yah Electronic Technology in December 2025. This merger is helping the company integrate drone hardware and flight control software into its core automotive offerings, with future potential for military and off-road applications.
