Solos Shows Latest Audio Glasses at CES 2025

Solos makes audio glasses and their latest AirGo V adds a camera and an AI inference engine to offer functionality similar to Meta’s Raybans. Solos says you can wear the glasses all day long to play music, do phone calls or use the camera to capture images with AI-based identification or other inferential information.

What’s New?

  • Integrated Cameras: Small cameras in the temples allow contextual capture.
  • AI Connectivity: The glasses connect to ChatGPT for advanced features:
    • Simultaneous Translation: Through a phone app, you can translate multiple languages at once. I saw a demo with Russian, English, and Mandarin running simultaneously.
    • Audio translations are delivered directly through the glasses’ speakers.

Contextual Capture:

  • Tap the side and ask, “What am I looking at?”
  • The glasses take a photo and identify objects (e.g., “These are Madagascar periwinkle flowers”).
  • Data is sent to the cloud for analysis by ChatGPT or other AI services.

Continuous Capture:

  • The camera can automatically capture one frame per second, sending data to ChatGPT.
  • Privacy concerns exist, but the contextual feature is useful for quick queries (e.g., “What’s the temperature in Las Vegas?”).

Design Choices:

  • No display—feedback is audio-only for now.
  • Solos is affiliated with Kopin Corporation and Lightning Silicon, so displays may be added in future versions.

Summary:
Solos’ Version V audio glasses combine translation, contextual AI, and hands-free interaction in a sleek design, paving the way for smarter wearable tech.
