Modern camera systems use square or rectangular image sensors but round optics. This form factor mismatch means these conventional optics need to be larger than the sensor to get good uniformity of capture. But what if you could create rectangular optics to match the aspect ratio of the sensor? That is precisiely what Singapore-based MetaOptics Technologies is doing. 

In this white paper, we will describe their first and second generation approaches to fabricating both color and monochrome lenses, along with their fabrication processes and development plans.  These initial products are already available as development kits and the company has big plans to ramp up its U.S operations, including the establishment of a 12-inch glass metasurface fabrication capability.
