I’m Chris Chinnock here for Insight Media at CES 2025, attending the Pepcom event. I visited a company called Even Realities, which is introducing a new personal AR glasses device—probably the best way to describe it.
Key Features
- Display: A single monochrome green display powered by a microLED projection engine from JBD.
- Optics:
- Dual waveguides and dual projectors for image delivery.
- Waveguides are made of thin glass using nano-imprint technology, designed and manufactured in-house.
- Plastic lenses with optional prescription optics, including progressive lenses.
- Field of View: Approximately 20°.
- Brightness: Sufficient for typical indoor environments.
- Focal Distance: Adjustable for user comfort.
- Weight: Very lightweight, designed specifically for glasses-wearing customers.
Functionality
- Phone Connectivity: The device connects to a smartphone and acts as a personal accessory rather than a full AR headset.
- Use Cases:
- Step-by-step directions displayed in one field of view.
- Graphical map appears when you raise your head, offering two distinct viewing zones.
- Charging: Comes with a magnetic charging case.
- Retail: Available in about 200 stores across Europe.
Limitations
- No microphone and no external camera—this is strictly a personal aid device, not a communication tool.
- Incoming calls trigger visual or text notifications in the display, but voice interaction is not supported.
Summary: Even Realities’ AR glasses are a lightweight, prescription-friendly solution for simple tasks like navigation, offering dual waveguide optics and microLED projection in a minimalist design.
