At CES 2026, Garmin showcased the latest iteration of its Unified Cabin technology, a comprehensive digital cockpit solution designed to consolidate multiple vehicle domains into a single system.
Key Highlights from the Garmin Unified Cabin 2026
- Centralized Computing: The entire demo—which features six separate displays—runs on a single Qualcomm 8295 System on a Chip (SoC), reducing weight and hardware complexity.
- AI-Driven Personalization: Users can generate custom AI themes, including 360° skyboxes and unique UI color schemes, tailored to each passenger profile.
- Multilingual Virtual Assistant: A next-generation AI/LLM-based assistant can recognize multiple languages, handle coordinated multi-action commands, and provide real-time manual translations.
- Spatial Awareness: Beyond Ultra-Wideband (UWB) tracking, Garmin has integrated Bluetooth 6.0 with Channel Sounding to accurately identify the “seat zone” of wireless devices like headphones and game controllers.
- Meta Neural Band Integration: A new proof-of-concept allows occupants to control infotainment functions through subtle wrist micro-gestures, useful for reaching distant screens or theater displays.
- In-Cabin Safety & Communication: Features include Child Presence Detection via UWB radar and Cabin Chat, which enables private seat-to-seat video and audio conversations in large vehicles.
Garmin also announced its next-generation Nexus platform, powered by the Snapdragon Elite platform, which is targeted for vehicle programs starting in 2029.
