Overview:
LEDs AND LASERS have been proposed as light sources for displays for many years. The low performance of LEDs and the high cost of lasers prevented any mass-market for systems based on these technologies, but LED performance and laser costs are improving rapidly. In this Webcast Matthew Brennesholtz, Sr. Analyst for Insight Media (www.insightmedia.info) and co-author of the text "Projection Displays," will discuss the technology of red, green and blue solid-state light sources suitable for direct view LCD and projection applications. The design of HDTV displays using these solid-state light sources will also be covered. Finally, forecasts for LED and laser display sales through 2010 will be discussed.

About Frankfurt Lasers:
Founded in 1994, Frankfurt Laser Company (FLC) is a private company engaged in development, production and distribution of a wide range of laser diodes and incorporating them products - laser diode modules, diode-pumped SS frequency-doubled lasers and OEM modules. As complementary products FLC supplies SMT laser diode drivers and collimator optic, laser diode headers and caps, a range of MIR and rare-earth-doped optical fibers. http://www.frlaserco.com
About Principia Lightworks:
Principia LightWorks, Inc. (Woodland Hills, CA) has developed a laser technology, the "eVCSEL", an electron-beam-pumped vertical cavity surface-emitting laser, which serves as a light source for projection display applications. Principia's eVCSEL, a laser faceplate attached to a Cathode Ray Tube ("CRT"), can be mass produced to meet the projection display market's demand for the superior color reproduction that lasers offer with the reliability and low cost that conventional light sources provide. Principia's technology and low cost manufacturing allows display product OEMs to broadly integrate lasers as a light source for consumer projectors, including rear screen projection television ("RPTV"). Principia has designed and fabricated eVCSELs in red, green, and blue that operate at high output power (greater than 5 watts), with efficiencies and device lifetime that fall within the performance parameters of consumer market applications. http://www.principia-lightworks.com
