Silicon Optix CEO Paul Russo to Keynote Projection Summit

Serial entrepreneur and electronics industry visionary, Paul Russo, will give the keynote address at the fourth annual Projection Summit, which will be held June 6&7, just prior to InfoComm, in Las Vegas. Russo founded Genesis Microchip in 1987 and built it into a leading video processing company. Currently, he is the CEO, President and Chairman of Silicon Optix, a company spun off from Genesis in 2001 to commercialize geometry processing and, later, to develop a revolutionary new video processing architecture.

Russo will speak at 1:15PM on Tuesday, June 7. In his remarks, Russo will begin with a look at the display and consumer electronics landscape in 2015, explaining how current roadmaps will evolve to create this new world. He will review the major projection industry challenges and the new emerging technologies that will drive change, focusing primarily on front projection and RPTV markets. How importance is geometry processing? Can MD-TVs follow the fables model? How will LEDs enter the market? Where will the next manufacturing centers be?

“Paul has a proven track record of seeing where the industry is going and developing products and services that meet this need,” noted conference co-organizer, Chris Chinnock. “That is why we are particularly interested to hear where he sees the industry trends heading.”

The Projection Summit is a particularly important conference this year as the dynamics of the Pro AV segment are changing and projection TVs – a smash hit in 2004, are under increasing pressure from PDP and LCD technologies. Developing technology, products and features, supply chain strategies and new business models will be critical for survival going forward. Projection Summit is aimed at providing speakers and moderated panel sessions to help understand these issues and develop solutions.

The Projection Summit is organized into 9 sessions this year as follows:

  • Image Quality and Electronics Review

  • Illumination Review

  • Microdisplay & Engine Review

  • Screen Review

  • Opportunities for LED and Laser-Based Projection Systems

  • Investment Community Assessment

  • Analyst Debate: Pro AV

  • Analyst Debate: The IT Channel

  • Analyst Debate: RPTV
