Insight Media is producing a new conference at the next ISE in Amsterdam. Called the Megapixel Summit, the conference will focus on display solutions that have more than an HD or Full HD resolution. Examples include high resolution native displays, blended projectors, tiled LCDs, cubes or LED modules, etc. The event will cover the display technology trends, image processing and management hardware/software, markets and applications, as well as case studies and system integration issues.

Megapixel systems generally involve a display solution that is composed of multiple components and is spread over a large area. The challenges in creating such solutions are many, which is why the Megapixel Summit has been organized.

As shown in the graphic below, a Megapixel solution has three important elements: Pixel Generation, Pixel Processing and Pixel Display. Pixel Generation, such as is used in scientific visualization, flight simulation or product modeling, requires the generation of huge amounts of pixels, typically requiring advanced CPUs or GPU elements for generation. Digital signage, trade show events and entertainment applications usually feature smaller pixel count video and/or graphical content as the input to the Megapixel system.

In the Pixel Pipeline, these pixels can be scaled, image processed, warped or blended. They must also be distributed and managed across the output display solutions using a combination of software and/or hardware solutions.

The display devices can be in a variety of shapes and configurations, both clustered and distributed. Display solutions composed of rear projection modules, LED modules, tile LCDs or PDPs and projectors offer a variety of solutions for integrators and end users.

To help understand this ecosystem, the Megapixel Summit is organized into three sessions to address the needs of those interested in pixel generation, processing or display technology and trends, as well as the needs of system integrators and end users interested in understanding the full solution for a Megapixel system.

Multi-megapixel displays foster real-life decision making

Sessions 1 and 2: These two sessions will focus on the key components of a Megapixel system. This includes presentations and demonstrations of technology capabilities and trends of the "pixel pipeline" such as scalers, controllers, hardware and software image management, and CPU/GPUs. It will also cover the display output devices such as tiled LCDs/PDPs, projection cubes, blended/warped projectors and LED modules. These sessions will detail the basic building blocks of a variety of Megapixel solutions.

Session 3: This session is dedicated to understanding how Megapixel systems are configured and the issues with set up, calibration and system integration. Case studies that support learning will bring the technology into practical use. Speakers will detail the process to follow when selecting the appropriate technology for your solution, with the pros and cons of various approaches explained to provide a guide to the best solutions.

Each session will have five 30-minute segments with a break in the middle. Attendees can buy admittance to 1 session (300 euro), 2 sessions (450 euro) or all 3 sessions (550 euro).

Each 30-minute segment can use a single or multiple speakers. The format can be a panel, powerpoints, hands on demo, videos, etc. The idea is to provide real learning and insight into the Megapixel market and opportunity without giving a sales pitch or a manufacturing training session. Creativity is encouraged. The plan is to have two "basic" Megapixel displays in the room: a blended projection system and a tiled LCD wall. Sponsors can choose to offer these and perhaps additional systems for demonstrations during the event. They will also be available to other presenters to showcase various features and aspects of a technology or solution.

Insight Media will be promoting this new event heavily and ISE will be integrating into their full marketing campaign (see details below) and will handle all registration. We anticipate 50-100 attendees for each session in this first year.

The sponsorship packages are noted below. Each speaker is also a sponsor and will get many benefits as a result, depending upon your level.

Promotion Plan & Important Deadlines

Insight Media and ISE plan to promote the event aggressively, but deadlines are coming up quickly. To benefit from all of these marketing opportunities of being a speaker/sponsor, you need to commit early (now).
